I had the pleasure of enjoying an evening with my love, just the two us. We ended up at the local sporting goods store, because what else are you supposed to do with a couple hours of free time? You don't have to answer that!

When is the last time you bought a pair of jeans?
When is the last time you bought a pair of jeans?

This particular store sells more than just sporting goods, they also have a decent selection of women's clothing. From athletic wear to work wear to causal wear, it was a chance to do a little browsing.

Is it just me, or has clothing gotten very expensive? I glanced at the price tag on a pair of jeans and had to do a double take. I was shocked. The jeans cost $225. For one pair. Somewhere along the way, I stopped buying the trendy brand name jeans and completely forgot that I used to think $150 was perfectly fine.

If I had budgeted back then, I may have reconsidered spending that much for jeans. Percentage of my income wise, the cost now is probably less than I was paying back then, but alas, the expenses of adulthood have caught up with me. Oh, the responsibilities!

The way you feel when a pair of jeans fits just right, well that is a feeling worth the money. And now it's time to check out the budget and see if maybe $225 jeans just might be in my future.

Be intentional and smart with purchase of clothes, have a line in the budget and don't exceed it. Maybe cash would be the way to go. Dropping over $500 would be pretty easy these days and credit cards are not your friends.

If you want to know what a reasonable budget for clothing would be, schedule a chat with me at www.smithfinancialcoaching.com I would love to discuss it with you!
