Death of the Car Payment

For nearly 20 years, I carried around a car payment. I truly believed that car payments were a fact of life, especially if I wanted to drive a reliable car. I actually considered it a badge of honor, I had arrived at adulthood! I was trusted to borrow money, pay it back and get a nice car.

Car payments do not have to be part of life.
Car payments do not have to be part of life.

It was September 2014, I had just purchased my first house with zero dollars down (more on that another day and what was I thinking?!). My real estate agent gave me a book at closing called The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. I remember reading the book and thinking to myself - I handle money good enough, kept some of the principles tucked away in the back of my mind and put the book up on the shelf.

Certain principles I really felt drawn to, like having an emergency fund, spending less than you make and investing. I was Dave-ish before I knew that was a thing. The truth is, I was still unintentional with my spending and not making notable progress.

Having come to my senses, and wanting to see what following the Baby Steps was all about, my husband and I went all in and in just over a year, we have seen incredible results. It's all water under the bridge now, but where could we have been if I had gone all in a decade ago?

So now my mission in life is to get others who are in a similar thought pattern to see that doing things willy-nilly will not get the results you crave and deserve. I want you to experience life with freedom and choices, having broken free from the chains of debt and despair.

Schedule a call with me, let's build you a brighter future than you have ever imagined! https://calendly.com/smithfc1210/consultation
